Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure was held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 3:57 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out the proposed subcommittee rules for consideration. Senator Huffman moved adoption of the subcommittee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 4:03 p.m. Senator Huffman assumed the chair. 

 

The chair laid out SB 196 and recognized the author, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill. 

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called:  Senator Craig Estes.

 

Senator Shapleigh moved that SB 196 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 4:15 p.m. Senator Shapleigh resumed the chair. 

 

There being no further business, at 4:16 p.m. Senator Shapleigh moved that the subcommittee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
