Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was held on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Senator Ellis's Desk.

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:17 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business SB 1467. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 1467 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 3 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.  

 

At 2:20 p.m. Senator Ellis moved that the committee stand recessed for 20 minutes; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

At 2:35 p.m. Senator Ellis reconvened the committee in the scheduled location, the Betty King Room. 

 

The chair laid out SB 1090 and, in the absence of the author, explained the bill himself.

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. This bill was left pending.

The chair laid out HB 2546 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Hinojosa, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  This bill was left pending.

 

At 3:35 p.m. Senator Ellis moved that the committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair; without objection, it was so ordered.
