Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Thursday, August 26, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. The following business was transacted: 

 

The Chair recognized Senator Jeff Wentworth and Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Ramos to make introductory remarks.

 

The Chair called the following persons to provide invited testimony on Charge 3, study and make recommendations to promote and enable confidential information sharing among state agencies and courts serving at-risk children and youth to ensure that comprehensive and appropriate services are being provided. The study should focus on the technological, legal, and fiscal barriers that prevent information sharing among these entities regarding affected children and youth (see attached witness list).

 

The Chair recognized Senator Leticia Van de Putte to make remarks.

 

Witnesses providing public testimony and registering on Charge 3 are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 1:05 p.m. Senator Harris moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
