Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held on Monday, March 23, 2009, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 4:11 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Davis moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 4:18 p.m. Senator Davis assumed the chair. 

 

The chair laid out SB 1047 and recognized the author, Senator Lucio, Jr., to explain the bill. 

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Davis moved that SB 1047 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair laid out SB 803 and recognized the author, Senator Lucio, Jr., to explain the bill.

 

Senator Davis moved that SB 803 be left pending ; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 4:26 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. resumed the chair. 

 

At 4:26 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. made a motion to stand at ease.

 

At 4:41 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. reconvened the committee.

 

The chair laid out SB 1085 and recognized the author, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill. 

 

Senator Davis sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Shapleigh to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 1085 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 1526 and recognized the author, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill.
