Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Friday, May 8, 2009, in the E1.714.

Senator Carlos Uresti, the acting chair, called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

SCR 67

The chair laid out SCR 67 and recognized the author, Senator Wentworth, to explain the bill. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that SCR 67 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

HCR 57

The chair laid out HCR 57 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that HCR 57 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

HCR 176

The chair laid out HCR 176 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that HCR 176 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

HB 773

The chair laid out HB 773 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that HB 773 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

HB 4114

The chair laid out HB 4114 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  Senator Wentworth sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Wentworth to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the house bill as engrossed. Representative Martinez Fischer addressed the committee regarding HB 4114. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that HB 4114 and the Committee Substitute #1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Uresti moved that the Committee stand at ease upon arrival of a quorum.

 

At 2:35 p.m. the committee reconvened. 

 

There being no further business, at 2:36 p.m. Senator Uresti moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
