Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 14, 2009 and given permission to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Ways & Means met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Oliveira, at 3:41 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Oliveira; Otto; Howard, Charlie; King, Phil; Pena; Taylor; Villarreal (7).

 

Absent:              Representatives Bohac; Hartnett; Hilderbran; Paxton (4).

 

A quorum was present.

 

SB 1947

 

The chair laid out SB 1947, the companion to HB 3222.

 

Representative Oliveira offered an amendment to the measure.

 

The amendment was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Pena moved that SB 1947, as amended, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Oliveira; Otto; Bohac; Howard, Charlie; King, Phil; Pena; Villarreal (7).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

 

Absent:                          Representatives Hartnett; Hilderbran; Paxton; Taylor  (4).
