Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18, 2009, the House Committee on Insurance met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Smithee, at 6:50 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Smithee; Martinez Fischer; Deshotel; Hancock; Hunter; Isett; Taylor; Thompson (8).

 

Absent:              Representative Eiland (1).

 

A quorum was present.

 

 

SB 1007

 

The chair laid out SB 1007 as pending business.

 

The chair recognized Representative Isett to explain the measure.

 

(Representative Eiland now present.)

 

Representative Isett offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Hunter offered an amendment to the substitute.

 

The amendment to the substitute was adopted without objection.

 

The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments into a committee substitute.

 

Representative Thompson moved that SB 1007, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Smithee; Hancock; Hunter; Isett; Taylor (5).

 

Nays:                             Representatives Martinez Fischer; Deshotel; Eiland; Thompson (4).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

 

Absent:                          None  (0).

 

At 7:12 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
