Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18, 2009, and permission to meet while the House is in session, the House Committee on Corrections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative McReynolds, at 3:03 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives McReynolds; Madden; England; Hodge; Marquez; Martinez, "Mando"; Miller, Sid; Ortiz, Jr.; Sheffield (9).

 

Absent:              Representatives Dutton; Kolkhorst (2).

 

A quorum was present.

 

SB 1374

 

The chair laid out SB 1374.

 

The chair explained the measure.

 

Representative McReynolds offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Martinez, "Mando" moved that SB 1374, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives McReynolds; Madden; England; Hodge; Marquez; Martinez, "Mando"; Miller, Sid; Ortiz, Jr.; Sheffield (9).
