Pursuant to a notice posted on March 6, 2009, the House Committee on Appropriations met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Pitts, at 8:13 a.m.

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Supreme Court of Texas.

Representative Riddle moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations.  The motion was adopted without objection.

Court of Criminal Appeals

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Representative Riddle moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations.  The motion was adopted without objection.

 

Fourteen Courts of Appeals

 

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Fourteen Courts of Appeals.

 

Representative McClendon moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations.  The motion was adopted without objection.

 

Office of Court Administration, Texas Judicial Council

 

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Office of Court Administration, Texas Judicial Council.

 

Representative Crownover moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations for the Office of Court Administration, Texas Judicial Council.  The motion was adopted without objection.

 

Office of the State Prosecuting Attorney

 

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Office of the State Prosecuting Attorney.

Department of Criminal Justice

 

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Department of Criminal Justice.

 

Representative Riddle moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations for the Department of Criminal Justice.  The motion was adopted without objection.

 

Commission on Fire Protection

 

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Commission on Fire Protection.

 

Representative Edwards moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations for the Commission on Fire Protection.  The motion was adopted without objection.

 

Commission on Jail Standards

 

The chair laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Commission on Jail Standards.

 

Representative Raymond moved to amend the subcommittee recommendations to move Item 2 (Additional Jail Inspector) to Article XI.  The motion was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Riddle moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations for the Commission on Jail Standards as amended.

 

At 9:51 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until upon final adjourn./recess, or if permission granted, during reading and referral of bills.

 

The committee reconvened at 12:06 p.m. and was called to order by the chair, Representative Pitts. The roll was answered as follows:

The chair recognized laid out the subcommittee recommendations for the Juvenile Probation Commission.

Representative Driver moved the adoption of the subcommittee recommendations for the Department of Public Safety as amended, moving Item 12 (Real ID) to items not included.

 

Texas Youth Commission

 

The chair left the subcommittee recommendations for the Texas Youth Commission pending.
