Pursuant to a notice posted on September 8, 2008, a public hearing of the Select Interim Committee to Study the Practice of Breeding White-Tailed and Mule Deer was held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

Representative Harvey Hilderbran, the acting chair, called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Brimer laid out a motion to nominate Representative Hilderbran chairman of the Select Interim Committee to Study the Practice of Breeding White-Tailed and Mule Deer.  Senator Estes seconded the motion.  The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

Senator Brimer laid out a motion to adopt the committee rules that were placed in the committee member's notebooks.  The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

The Chair recognized each of the committee members to introduce themselves.

 

The following invited and public witnesses testified before the Select Committee on the committee's interim charges.  See attached list.

 

At 11:55 a.m. Representative King assumed the chair. 

 

At 12:00 p.m. Representative Hilderbran resumed the chair. 

 

At 1:20 p.m. Senator Brimer assumed the chair. 

 

At 1:36 p.m. Representative Hilderbran resumed the chair. 

 

Representative Hilderbran moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Representative Hilderbran made closing comments.

 

 

There being no further business, at 2:55 p.m. Representative Hilderbran moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
