Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Legislative Study Committee on Private Participation in Toll Projects was held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

Senator Carona called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called: 

Representative Larry Phillips

Senator Tommy Williams

 

With the consent of the Committee, Robert Poole was allowed to participate via telephone conference.

 

Representative Smith made a motion to name Senator Carona as Chair of the Committee, by unanimous consent, it was so ordered.

 

The Chair laid out the rules for the committee.  Senator Nichols moved that the rules be adopted, there being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

The Committee heard invited testimony regarding private participation in toll projects. 

 

Witnesses are shown on the attached list.

 

There being no further business, at 2:51 p.m. Senator Carona moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
