Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations was held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in the Betty King Committee Hearing Room, 2E.20, at Austin, Texas.

The Senate Committees on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations and on Government Organization met in a joint hearing to hear testimony on Senate Bill 917.

 

Senator Ellis called the Senate Committee on Government Organization to order at 1:16 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Van de Putte called the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations to order at 1:16 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Ellis laid out Senate Bill 917 and recognized the author, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill. (SB 917 was referred to the Senate Committee on Government Organization).

 

 At 1:30 p.m. Senator Hegar assumed the chair.

 

The Chair opened public testimony on SB 917.

 

Witnesses testifying and/or registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

The Chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Hegar moved that SB 917 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 3:01 p.m. Senator Hegar moved that the Senate Committee on Government Organization stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.  Senator Van de Putte moved that Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations stand recessed subject to call of the Chair; without objection, it was so ordered.
