Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.  There being no quorum present, the following was transacted: 

 

The chair welcomed members and guests and made opening remarks on Charge #1 regarding Developmental Disabilities.

 

Upon arrival of a quorum at 9:02 a.m. Senator Zaffirini made a motion to correct the minutes from the previous hearing held on August 26, 2008. 

 

Senator Deuell moved adoption of the minutes with the correction from the previous hearing held on August 26, 2008; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair opened the floor to invited testimony on Charge #1.

 

Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

At 12:40 p.m. Senator Deuell assumed the chair.

 

At 1:16 p.m. Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

 

The chair opened the floor to public testimony on Charge #1.

 

Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 2:28 p.m. Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
