Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Deuell moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on March 26, 2008; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair made opening remarks regarding Interim Charges 4,5, and 6.

 

The chair opened the floor to invited testimony for Charges 4,5, and 6.

 

Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

At 11:32 a.m. Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.

 

At 11:35 a.m. Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

 

At 1:50 p.m. Senator Shapleigh assumed the chair.

At 2:10 p.m. Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

 

The chair opened the floor to public testimony for Charges 4,5, and 6.

 

Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

At 5:19 p.m. Senator Uresti assumed the chair.

 

At 5:25 p.m. Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 5:42 p.m. Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
