Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Thursday, March 22, 2007, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 12:10 p.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

At 12:12 p.m., Senator Deuell assumed the Chair.

 

The Chair laid out Senate Bill 758 and recognized the author, Senator Nelson, to explain the bill. 

 

Senator Nelson sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Nelson to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed. 

 

The Chair opened the floor to public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  

 

At 12:53 p.m., a quorum was established.

 

At 1:01 p.m., Senator West assumed the Chair.

 

At 1:02 p.m., Senator Shapleigh assumed the Chair.

 

At 2:06 p.m., Senator Uresti assumed the Chair.

 

At 2:17 p.m., Senator Deuell assumed the Chair.

 

The Chair temporarily suspended public testimony and left Senate Bill 758 pending. 

 

At 4:34 p.m., Senator Nelson resumed the Chair.

 

The Chair laid out Senate Bill 805 and recognized the author, Senator Uresti, to explain the bill.  

 

Senator Uresti sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Uresti to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as filed.
