Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rules 11.10 & 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in the Senate Chamber, at Senator Ellis' Desk in Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 3:25 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Jackson moved to reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute to HB 447 was voted out of committee on May 7, 2007; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Jackson moved to reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute to HB 447 was adopted; without objection it was so ordered. Senator Jackson sent up Committee Amendment 5 and moved adoption; without objection, the amendment was adopted.  Senator Jackson requested unanimous consent to incorporate amendment 5 into a new committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Jackson then moved that the new committee substitute be adopted; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Jackson moved that HB 447 do not pass but that CSHB 447 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.  Senator Jackson moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

At 3:27 p.m. Senator Ellis moved that the committee stand recessed subject to call of the chair; without objection, it was so ordered.
