Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rules 11.10 & 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in the Senate Chamber, at Senator Ellis' Desk in Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:48 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair called up SB 445.  Senator Hegar moved adoption of the committee substitute, which was previously explained; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Hegar moved that SB 445 do not pass but that CSSB 445 be reported back to the Senate with the  recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. 

 

The chair called up SB 1310.  Senator Nelson moved adoption of the committee substitute, which was previously explained; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Nelson moved that SB 1310 do not pass but that CSSB 1310 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.  Senator Nelson moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.   

 

The chair called up SB 1805.  Senator Nelson moved that SB 1805 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.  Senator Hegar moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

At 2:50 p.m. Senator Hegar assumed the chair.

 

Senator Hegar called up SB 1036.

 

Senator Ellis moved adoption of the committee substitute, which was previously explained; without objection, it was so ordered.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.  Senator Ellis moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.   

 

There being no further business, at 2: 51 p.m. Senator Ellis moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
