Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held on Monday, April 16, 2007, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 5:26 p.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out SB 1241 and recognized the author, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill.  The author of SB 1241 highlighted a committee substitute for SB 1241. 

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

A quorum was established at 5:38 p.m.

 

Senator Estes moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on April 2, 2007; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 1241 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair laid out SB 1139 and recognized the author, Senator Uresti, to explain the bill. 

 

The following member arrived after the roll was called:  Senator Dan Patrick.

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 1139 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 5:56 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
