Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Monday, February 12, 2007, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1.

 

Testimony was given on the following institutions of higher education.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.

 

The University of Texas System

 

The roll was called, and a quorum was established.

 

Testimony resumed.

 

            The University of Texas at Arlington

 

Senator Ogden resumed the chair. 

 

Testimony continued.

 

Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair. 

 

Testimony continued.

Senator Ogden resumed the chair. 

 

Senator Ogden moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 1:15 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 2:15 p.m.; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Zaffirini reconvened the Committee at 2:15 p.m.

 

The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1, which had been left pending earlier in the hearing.

Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Ogden resumed the chair. 

 

There being no further business, at 5:11 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 8:00 a.m., February 13, 2007.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
