Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, April 30, 2007, in E1.714.

The chair called the meeting to order at 12:40 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out the recommended list for the May 3, 2007, Local and Uncontested Calendar.  The following bills were removed from the recommended list: SB 704, SB 791, SB 1347, SB 1391, SB 1617, SB 1637, and SB 1788.   Senator Seliger moved that the May 3, 2007, Local and Uncontested Calendar be certified; the motion passed with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent.

 

The chair laid out HJR 19 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Carona, to explain the bill. 

 

Senator Seliger sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Carona to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the house bill as engrossed.  Senator Seliger moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Senator Shapiro moved that HJR 19 do not pass but that CSHJR 19 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. 

 

 

There being no further business, Senator Brimer moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
