Pursuant to a notice posted on April 9, 2008, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Swinford, at 1:11 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Swinford; Paxton; Van Arsdale; Christian; Cook, Byron; Flynn (6).

 

Absent:               Representatives Farrar; Parker; Veasey (3).

 

A quorum was present.

The chair laid out information on Valero Energy case.

 

The chair moved that the committee authorize the chair to issue any necessary subpoenas to obtain documents and/or witnesses that will assist this committee on the Valero Energy investigation.

 

The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                              Representatives Swinford; Paxton; Van Arsdale; Christian; Cook, Byron; Flynn; Parker (7).

 

Nays:                              None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:       None  (0).

 

Absent:                           Representatives Farrar; Veasey  (2).

At 8:10 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
