CORRECTED MINUTES

 

 

On April 19, 2007, the House Committee on State Affairs authorized the correction of the minutes for the meeting of the House Committee on State Affairs held on April 13, 2007. The following are the corrected minutes for that meeting:

 

Pursuant to a notice posted on April 5, 2007, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Swinford, at 8:35 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Swinford; Christian; Farrar; Flynn; Parker (5).

 

Absent:              Representatives Paxton; Van Arsdale; Cook, Byron; Veasey (4).

 

A quorum was present.

 

HB 3249

 

The chair laid out HB 3249.

 

The chair recognized Representative Truitt to explain the measure.

 

The chair recognized Representative Truitt to close on the measure.

 

Representative Flynn moved that HB 3249, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Swinford; Christian; Farrar; Flynn; Parker (5).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

Statement of Vote

 

Representative Cook, Byron, added the following statement to the minutes.

 

"I was absent from the April 13, 2007, State Affairs Committee Hearing.  If I had been there, I respectfully would have voted NO on HB 225 by Paxton."

 

Statement of Vote

 

Representative Veasey added the following statement to the minutes.

 

"I was absent at the time House Bill 225 was voted on, but had I been present I would have voted 'nay.' I believe that stem cell research offers great promise to victims of terrible diseases and their families, and I support utilizing federal and state dollars to further this important research. I intend to vote 'nay' on this bill, should it reach the floor."

 

HB 13
