Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor and permission to meet while the House is in session on May 11, 2007, the House Committee on Public Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Eissler, at 5:24 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

Absent:              Representatives Zedler; Branch; Dutton; Mowery (4).

 

A quorum was present.

The chair laid out SB 1456.

 

Representative Delisi moved that SB 1456, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

The chair laid out SB 1490.

 

Representative Patrick moved that SB 1490, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

The chair laid out SB 1943, the companion to HB 2588.

 

The chair offered Amendment No. 1 to the measure.

The amendment was adopted without objection.

 

The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendment into a committee substitute without objection.

 

Representative Delisi moved that SB 1943, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
