Pursuant to a notice posted on April 15, 2008, the House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures met in a public hearing and was called to order by the acting chair, Representative Geren at 10:03 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Geren; Goolsby; Hamilton; Jones, Delwin; Quintanilla (5).

 

Absent:              Representatives Flores; Isett, Carl; Miles; Thompson (4).

 

A quorum was present.

 

The chair recognized Dwaine Caraway, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, for welcoming remarks.

Charge #6:  Examine the current practice of certain occupations, and determine whether these occupations pose any significant threat to the health, safety and welfare of the general public to the extent that increased regulation is needed:

            A.  Establish a statewide registration for certain sexually-oriented businesses (SOBs).

Charge #7:  Oversight:  Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC)

Announcements

The chair announced that the next committee meeting has been posted for May 7 in Austin.
