Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18, 2007, and granted permission to meet while the House is in Session, the House Committee on Judiciary met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Hartnett, at 11:25 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Hartnett; Hopson; Cook, Robby; Goolsby; Hughes (5).

 

Absent:              Representatives Homer; Alonzo; Gonzales; Krusee (4).

 

A quorum was present.

 

SB 1125

 

The chair laid out and explained SB 1125.

 

The chair moved that SB 1125, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Hartnett; Hopson; Cook, Robby; Goolsby; Hughes (5).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

The chair laid out and explained SB 1655.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

The chair moved that SB 1655, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
