Pursuant to a notice posted on June 6, 2008, the House Committee on Defense Affairs & State-Federal Relations met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Corte, Frank, at 10:09 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Corte, Frank; Merritt; Raymond (3).

 

Absent:              Representatives Escobar; Noriega, Rick; Garcia; Herrero; Hodge; Moreno, Paul (6).

 

Interim Charge # 1. Study and make recommendations to address the need to identify essential

personnel necessary to enter a disaster area to restore critical infrastructure.

Interim Charge # 4. Examine Chapter 431, Government Code, Chapter 431, to determine the

feasibility of the Texas State Guard and Texas National Guard, while designated

on state active duty, to assist in interagency planning and operational coordination

under the Governor's Division of Emergency Management and the Texas

Secretary of State.
