Pursuant to a notice posted on March 12, 2008, the House Committee on Government Reform met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Callegari, at 9:38 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Callegari; Pitts; Berman; Leibowitz; Smith, Wayne (5).

 

Absent:              Representatives Miles; Rodriguez (2).

 

A quorum was present.

The committee considered the following Interim Study Charge of the Texas House of Representatives, 80th Legislature, as issued by Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House:

 

Research, investigate, and make recommendations on how electronic documents can be created, maintained, exchanged, and preserved by the state in a manner that encourages appropriate government control, access, choice, interoperability, and vendor neutrality. The committee shall consider, but not be limited to, public access to information, expected storage life of electronic documents, costs of implementation, and savings.

The committee considered the following Interim Study Charge of the Texas House of Representatives, 80th Legislature, as issued by Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House:

 

Research, investigate, and make recommendations regarding litigation brought by school districts receiving state funds under Chapter 46, Education Code, for defective construction of instructional facilities and the state's interest in ensuring the use of such funds for the repair or reconstruction of defective facilities or the return of state funds.
