Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 25, 2007, and a suspension of the House Rules for permission to meet during reading and referral of bills, the House Committee on Calendars met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Woolley, at 8:26 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:              Representatives Woolley; Crownover; Dukes; Guillen; Hamilton; Taylor; Turner; Van Arsdale (8).

 

Absent:              Representatives Chavez; Branch; Elkins (3).

 

A quorum was present.

 

Representative Woolley moved to place the following measures:

on the Major State Calendar for Friday, April 27, 2007:  SB904, SB483; and

 

on the General State Calendar for Friday, April 27, 2007:  HB3430, HB2201, HB2278, HB662, HB1183, HB1383.

 

The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Woolley; Crownover; Dukes; Guillen; Hamilton; Taylor; Turner; Van Arsdale (8).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

 

Absent:                          Representatives Chavez; Branch; Elkins  (3).

Pursuant to House Rule 3, Section 5(2), and House Rule 6, Section 16(f),  Representative Woolley moved to adopt the following proposed rule governing floor consideration of HB 3928 (relating to technical changes to the revised franchise tax):

 

 

 

 

Section 1.

 

All original amendments that will be offered during second reading consideration of the bill must be filed with the chief clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2007.

 

Section 2.

 

(a)        Any amendment is not in order if it causes the bill to have a net loss to any fund in any biennium.

 

(b)        For purposes of this rule, the fiscal impact of an amendment will be determined based on estimates provided by the Legislative Budget Board with assistance from the Office of the Comptroller.
