SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 454
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Constable Bob Lew of Bexar County Precinct 3, who is |
|
|
retiring after 50 years of exemplary public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Bob Lew began his career in public service as a |
|
|
reserve deputy in Precinct 3; he went on to hold many important |
|
|
positions in the Bexar County law enforcement community; he |
|
|
served as commander for the Bexar County Major Crimes Task Force |
|
|
and as a criminal investigator for the Bexar County Sheriff's |
|
|
Department; he has served as constable for Precinct 3 since 1989; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Bob has been active in |
|
|
community affairs; he has worked as a volunteer law enforcement |
|
|
officer at functions for such institutions as the American Cancer |
|
|
Society, Santa Rosa Children's Hospital, and the March of Dimes; |
|
|
he is a life member of the Lonnie Irvin Masonic Lodge and the |
|
|
San Antonio Scottish Rite; he is a member of the Alzafar Shrine |
|
|
Temple and has served as vice president of the Chinese Community |
|
|
Council; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Highly regarded for his leadership and dedication |
|
|
to his work, Bob Lew has handled his many responsibilities with |
|
|
exceptional skill and professionalism; he also broke new ground |
|
|
as the first Chinese American in Texas to be certified as a peace |
|
|
officer and the first to be elected constable; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Certified as a master Texas peace officer, Bob has |
|
|
received numerous awards for his dedication and effectiveness, |
|
|
including the American Legion Citation for Meritorious Service |
|
|
in Law Enforcement, the Bexar County Citizens Award for Crime |
|
|
Suppression, and the Constable's Department Meritorious Service |
|
|
Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exceptional law enforcement officer, Bob is |
|
|
admired and respected by his colleagues, and his presence in the |
|
|
Precinct 3 constable's office will be greatly missed; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
80th Legislature, hereby commend Bob Lew on his exceptional |
|
|
service to Bexar County and his many contributions to our state |
|
|
and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
