AN ACT
|
|
relating to the reimbursement of travel expenses for state |
|
employees. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 660, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 660.019 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 660.019. DEADLINE FOR REIMBURSING EXPENSES. |
|
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), not later than the 45th |
|
day after the date a state employee submits a request for |
|
reimbursement of travel expenses, a state agency shall reimburse |
|
the state employee for reimbursable travel expenses incurred by the |
|
state employee if the state employee submits the request for |
|
reimbursement in accordance with: |
|
(1) the state agency's policies and procedures for |
|
travel expense reimbursement; and |
|
(2) state travel rules. |
|
(b) If there is a bona fide dispute between the state agency |
|
and the state employee relating to the travel expenses, the state |
|
agency shall reimburse the state employee for reimbursable travel |
|
expenses incurred by the state employee not later than the 30th day |
|
after the date the dispute is resolved. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
