R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Tom Annunziato of Aledo, the immediate past |
|
|
president of the Texas Optometric Association, has helped meet the |
|
|
eye care needs of Texans since 1977; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force, Dr. |
|
|
Annunziato earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech |
|
|
University in 1973 and went on to receive his doctor of optometry |
|
|
degree from the University of Houston's College of Optometry in |
|
|
1977; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Annunziato founded 1st Eye Care in 1977, and he |
|
|
continues to treat patients in Fort Worth and Weatherford; his many |
|
|
areas of specialization include adult vision and contact lens |
|
|
evaluation and management, glaucoma, pre-operative and |
|
|
post-operative evaluation and management of cataract and lens |
|
|
implant surgery, and LASIK surgery; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An active member of optometric organizations on the |
|
|
local, state, and national levels, Dr. Annunziato generously |
|
|
devotes his time and expertise to a number of worthy charitable |
|
|
organizations; he is also affiliated with the Rotary and Lions |
|
|
Clubs and is a longtime member of Arlington Heights United |
|
|
Methodist Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 2005, Dr. Annunziato was named National |
|
|
Optometrist of the Year by the American Optometric Association, and |
|
|
that same year, the Texas Optometric Association recognized him as |
|
|
its Optometrist of the Year; notably, he has received the |
|
|
Presidential Award from the Texas Optometric Association every year |
|
|
since 2001; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Few individuals have had such a profound and lasting |
|
|
impact on optometry in Texas as Dr. Tom Annunziato, and he is most |
|
|
deserving of special recognition for his service to the citizens of |
|
|
the Lone Star State and his exemplary leadership as president of the |
|
|
Texas Optometric Association; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Dr. Tom Annunziato for his continuing |
|
|
efforts to benefit his patients and promote advances in the science |
|
|
of optometry and extend to him best wishes for success and |
|
|
achievement in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Annunziato as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
