| WHEREAS, Erik Rook has been named a winner of a Midland Civics | ||
| Teacher Award, which pays tribute to his accomplishments as an | ||
| educator; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Midland Civics Teacher Awards are sponsored by | ||
| the Bill of Rights Institute, an organization that seeks to foster | ||
| greater understanding of the principles, liberties, and freedoms | ||
| that are the foundation of the government and society of the United | ||
| States; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A teacher at Lee Freshman High School, Mr. Rook is | ||
| being honored for the exceptional work he has performed in | ||
| communicating American civic and governmental concepts to his | ||
| students and for his ongoing commitment to educational excellence; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, The schoolteachers who mentor the young people of | ||
| Texas in the ideals and practices of American government play a key | ||
| role in preparing students for their responsibilities as citizens, | ||
| and Erik Rook's outstanding efforts in the classroom are indeed | ||
| deserving of the highest respect; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Erik Rook on his receipt of a | ||
| Midland Civics Teacher Award from the Bill of Rights Institute and | ||
| commend him for his dedication to area students; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Rook as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
