R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of Del Rio are gathering to celebrate the |
|
|
dedication of Lieutenant Thomas Romanelli Memorial Park on May 9, |
|
|
2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Paid for by funds raised by the Del Rio Police |
|
|
Department, the recreational area is situated on land donated by |
|
|
the city and provides a fitting tribute to the brave men and women |
|
|
who protect and serve their fellow residents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The park is named in honor of Lieutenant Romanelli, |
|
|
a 26-year veteran of the Del Rio Police Department who earned the |
|
|
Silver Star of Bravery for rescuing two children from a burning |
|
|
building; this esteemed Texan further served his community as a |
|
|
member of the Val Verde County Child Welfare Board of Directors, |
|
|
where he worked diligently to help abused and neglected children; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The completion of Romanelli Park offers area |
|
|
residents an inviting new gathering place that will surely be |
|
|
enjoyed for generations to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of Lieutenant Thomas |
|
|
Romanelli Memorial Park and congratulate the men and women of the |
|
|
Del Rio Police Department who have worked to ensure the success of |
|
|
this important project; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Del Rio Police Department as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
