R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Honorable Glenn H. Kothmann served as the voice
  of the citizens of Bexar County for more than a quarter-century, and
  he may indeed reflect with justifiable pride on his lifetime of
  achievement; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Senator Kothmann
  was born in San Antonio and attended Texas A&M University, where he
  was a member of the meat and livestock judging teams; also a student
  of the Command and General Staff College, he attained the rank of
  corporal as a sophomore, sergeant major as a junior, and executive
  officer of the infantry regiment as a senior, later retiring as a
  major general; and
         WHEREAS, This notable public servant went on to serve five
  terms in the Texas House of Representatives and five terms in the
  Texas Senate; and
         WHEREAS, During his extensive legislative career, Senator
  Kothmann shared his considerable experience with a number of
  committees, helping to lead the Natural Resources, State Affairs,
  Commerce and Industry, Municipal and Private Corporations, and
  Public Lands and Buildings Committees as vice chair and the State
  Affairs Subcommittee on Elections, Natural Resources Subcommittee
  on Energy, and Security at San Antonio State Hospital Committee as
  chair; moreover, he was elected by his fellow senators to serve as
  president pro tempore during the 64th Legislative Session; and
         WHEREAS, Outside of the political arena, Senator Kothmann
  enjoyed a varied career in the real estate and financial
  industries; and
         WHEREAS, His considerable contributions to his state and
  country earned him a number of honors, most notably the U.S.
  Distinguished Service Medal and the Lone Star Distinguished Service
  Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Glenn Kothmann has
  demonstrated an exemplary commitment to his state and nation, and
  his dedicated service truly deserves special commendation; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the Honorable Glenn H. Kothmann for
  his many achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Senator Kothmann as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
