R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs basketball team |
|
|
enjoyed another successful season in 2006-2007, advancing to the |
|
|
2007 Class A Division I state semifinals at the Frank Erwin Center |
|
|
in Austin; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The reigning state champions, the Lady Mustangs |
|
|
worked valiantly to defend their title before suffering a |
|
|
hard-fought 62-60 loss to the Lady Knights of Lindsay High School, |
|
|
the eventual tournament champion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Coach Doug Barncastle once again guided the team to |
|
|
the state tournament following impressive wins in the area |
|
|
championship and regional quarterfinals; his leadership and |
|
|
skillful coaching were instrumental to the team's success; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Team members include Jordan Barncastle, Rebecca |
|
|
Hensley, Taylor Daniel, Christa Williams, Brittney Perkins, Payton |
|
|
Coleman, Jennifer Tindle, Ashley Tarrant, Lauren Webster, Molly |
|
|
Harkins, Courtney Gregory, and Cara Chaney; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their hard work and dedication in the |
|
|
pursuit of excellence, the Lady Mustangs earned the respect and |
|
|
admiration of their many fans in the Martins Mill community, and |
|
|
their efforts in defense of the team's state title are truly |
|
|
admirable; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Doug Barncastle and the |
|
|
Martins Mill Lady Mustangs on their outstanding season and extend |
|
|
best wishes to them for continued success in all their endeavors; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
