R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Houston Area Coalition of Omega
  Chapters are hosting the 70th Annual Ninth District meeting of
  Omega Psi Phi Fraternity on April 5-8, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Warren Lee, the organization's Grand Basileus, and
  Todd Clemons, Ninth District Representative, are among the
  participants, as are Supreme Council members and Ninth District
  officers; they are being joined by fraternity brothers and their
  families from throughout the Lone Star State as well as Arkansas,
  Louisiana, and Oklahoma; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1911 at Howard University, Omega Psi Phi
  Fraternity is one of nine predominately African American
  Greek-letter organizations; it was established on the ideals of
  manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift, and now boasts a
  membership roll in excess of 150,000 who focus on service and
  commitment to others through civic, cultural, and charitable
  endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly a century, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has
  played an important role in the lives of its members and the
  communities in which they live, and it is indeed appropriate to
  honor this worthy organization and recognize the many achievements
  of its members; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of Omega Psi Phi
  Fraternity on the organization's 96th anniversary and extend to the
  participants of the 70th Annual Ninth District meeting sincere best
  wishes for a memorable and meaningful event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
