R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Betty Lee Moor MacGuire was inducted into the El
  Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame on March 9, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1985, the commission is composed of
  El Paso citizens who are committed to the pursuit of equal rights
  and responsibilities for all women; inductees to the organization's
  Hall of Fame are recognized in one of five categories, including
  arts, education, civic leadership, professional, and public
  service; and
         WHEREAS, Selected for the civic leadership category, Ms.
  MacGuire has shared her time with a number of community groups,
  including the YWCA, the El Paso Community Foundation, the Salvation
  Army, and Planned Parenthood; in addition, she has served as
  president of the board of directors of the Lee and Beulah Moor
  Children's Home for nearly a half-century and helped to establish
  endowed chairs in The University of Texas at El Paso accounting and
  engineering departments; and
         WHEREAS, The strength of our communities and the vitality of
  the State of Texas depend on the dedication of women like Betty
  MacGuire; she uses her considerable talents and generous spirit to
  serve others, and it is a pleasure to join the commission in
  honoring her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Betty Lee Moor MacGuire on her
  induction into the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. MacGuire as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
