AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the appointment of a temporary county chair. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 171.027(b), Election Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(b) The state executive committee or the state chair shall |
|
|
appoint a temporary county chair. If the state chair appoints a |
|
|
temporary county chair, the state executive committee at the next |
|
|
regular meeting of the committee shall ratify the appointment of |
|
|
the temporary county chair or appoint another person as temporary |
|
|
county chair. A [To be appointed, a person must receive a] |
|
|
favorable vote of a majority of the members of the committee voting |
|
|
is required for ratification or an appointment [committee's
|
|
|
membership]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2007. |
