The Committee will meet to discuss the following bills:

SB 474            Barrientos / et al.
Relating to safety regulations for certain extracurricular school
activities.

SB 697            Estes
Relating to the validation of the boundaries of certain school
districts.

SB 800            Lucio
Relating to elections and terms of office for trustees of an
independent school district.

SB 996            Averitt
Relating to the use of personal leave by a public school employee.

SB 1146            Shapiro
Relating to an early college education program to provide at-risk
and other students accelerated high school graduation and college
credit.

SB 1376            Staples
Relating to the authority of a parent to designate a child-care
facility or grandparent's residence for purposes of transportation
provided by a public school transportation system.

SB 1393            Shapiro
Relating to the accountability of regional education service
centers.

SB 1395            Shapiro
Relating to the establishment of high school diploma programs by
Job Corps programs under the United States Department of Labor.

The Committee will consider the following pending business:

Relating to notice to educators of a public school student's
misconduct and to placement of a student who has assaulted a
teacher.

The Committee will consider the following Subcommittee Reports:

SB 114            Van de Putte
Relating to the removal of a member of a junior college district
board of trustees for failure to attend board meetings.

SB 302            Ellis / et al.
Relating to reports of strategies for increasing minority
participation in higher education.

SB 528            Hinojosa
Relating to the installment payment of tuition and fees charged by
a public junior college for a summer term.


The Committee will consider CSHB 2 after the above posted committee
business is complete.


HB 2            Grusendorf / et al.      SP: Shapiro
Relating to public education and public school finance matters.

The Committee will hear public testimony on issues in CSHB 2 regarding
students and teachers.  These provisions may be found in:

Article 2-Education Excellence
Part. A. Education Employee Quality
Part. E. Dual Language Education Pilot Program

Section 2C.17 (Statewide Incentives)

Dependent upon the amount of witness cards received, the chair may limit
public testimony to three (3) minutes for each witness who wishes
to testify before the Committee.
