      Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the  
      Standing Senate Subcommittee on Base Realignment and Closure was held  
      on Thursday, May 5, 2005, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

      The chair called the meeting to order at 12:53 p.m.  There being a  
      quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
       
      Senator Fraser moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing  
      held on April 13, 2005; without objection, it was so ordered.  At  
      12:54 p.m. Senator Fraser assumed the chair.  The chair laid out HB  
      2340 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Shapleigh, to explain  
      the bill.  Senator Shapleigh explained the bill.  The chair called for  
      public testimony.  No public testimony was offered.  The chair moved  
      that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so  
      ordered.  Senator Fraser moved that HB 2340 be reported favorably to  
      the full Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Committee with the  
      recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried  
      with a record vote of 3 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0  
      absent.   
       
      At 12:57 p.m. Senator Shapleigh resumed the chair.   
       
      There being no further business, at 1:00 p.m. Senator Shapleigh moved  
      that the Committee be adjourned. Without objection, it was so ordered.
