Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on State Affairs was held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

The Committee heard invited and public testimony on Interim Charge No. 4 relating to the implementation of workers compensation reforms adopted by the 78th legislature in H.B. 7.  Witnesses testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

The Chair closed testimony on Interim Charge No. 4.

 

At 10:53 a.m. the Committee stood in recess.

 

The Committee reconvened at 11:04 a.m. and took invited and public testimony on Interim Charge Nos. 1 and 2 relating to the actuarial soundness of the pension funds of the Teacher Retirement System and Employees Retirement System.  Witnesses testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

At 12:19 p.m. the Committee stood in recess.  The Committee reconvened at 12:22 p.m.

 

The Chair closed testimony on Interim Charge Nos. 1 and 2.

 

There being no further business, at 1:18 p.m. Senator Duncan moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
