         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government  
         Organization was held on Monday, May 2, 2005, in the Capitol  
         Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

         Senator Kevin Eltife, the acting chair, called the meeting to  
         order at 6:34 p.m.  A quorum being established at the last  
         hearing, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The chair laid out SB 452 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Wentworth, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and  
         registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The  
         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife moved that SB 452  
         be left pending to await a quorum; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 2377 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in  
         the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.   
         Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on  
         the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be  
         closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife  
         moved that HB 2377 be left pending to await a quorum; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 2379 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in  
         the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.   
         Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on  
         the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be  
  
         closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife  
         moved that HB 2379 be left pending to await a quorum; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 1820 and recognized Senator Wentworth, in  
         place of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  A committee  
         substitute was laid out, and the testimony was on both the bill  
         as filed and the committee substitute.  Witnesses testifying and  
         registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The  
         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife moved that HB 1820  
         be left pending to await a quorum; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 1155 and recognized the Senate sponsor,  
         Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying  
         and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The  
         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife moved that HB 1155  
         be left pending to await a quorum; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 1015 and recognized Senator Shapleigh, in  
         the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.

         the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be  
         closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife  
         moved that HB 1015 be left pending to await a quorum; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 2274 and recognized Senator Shapleigh, in  
         the absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.

         the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be  
         closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Eltife  
         moved that HB 2274 be left pending to await a quorum; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         There being no further business, at 6:49 p.m. Senator Eltife  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
