         Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of  
         the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Thursday, May  
         19, 2005, at Senator Wentworth's desk.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 1:45 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         The chair laid out HB 201.  Senator Hinojosa moved that HB 201  
         be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that  
         it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record  
         vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.   
         Senator Averitt moved that the bill be recommended for placement  
         on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was  
         so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 1449.  Senator Harris sent up a committee  
         substitute; the chair recognized Senator Harris to explain the  
         difference between the committee substitute and the bill as  
         filed.  Senator Wentworth moved adoption of the committee  
         substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator  
         Harris moved that HB 1449 do not pass but that CSHB 1449 be  
         reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do  
         pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6  
         ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.  Senator Harris  
         moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local &  
         Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 2120.  Senator Wentworth moved to withdraw  
         the committee substitute that was previously adopted; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Harris sent up a new  
         committee substitute.  Senator Wentworth moved adoption of the  
         committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.  
  
         Senator Harris moved that HB 2120 do not pass but that CSHB 2120  
         be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it  
         do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote  
         of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.     
          
         The chair laid out HB 3485.  Senator Hinojosa moved that HB 3485  
         be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that  
         it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record  
         vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.   
          
         The chair announced the motion in writing by Senator Gallegos. 
          
         Senator Gallegos was shown voting aye on the following bills:   
         HB 201, HB 1449, HB 2120 and HB 3485. 
          
         There was no action taken on HB 2795. 
          
         There being no further business, at 1:52 p.m. Senator Wentworth  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
