         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence  
         was held on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in the Capitol Extension,  
         Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 4:08 p.m.  The  
         following business was transacted:   
          
         At 4:09 p.m. Senator Hinojosa assumed the chair.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 349 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Wentworth, to explain the bill.  Senator Wentworth sent up a  
         committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Wentworth to  
         explain the difference between the committee substitute and the  
         bill as filed.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill  
         are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public  
         testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 241 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Wentworth, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and

         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without

         The chair laid out SB 346 and recognized the author, Senator

         The chair laid out SB 348 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Wentworth, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and

         At 4:27 p.m. Senator Wentworth resumed the chair.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 435 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Gallegos, Jr., to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and  
         registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The  
         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 393 and recognized the author, Senator Van  
         de Putte, to explain the bill.  Senator Gallegos, Jr. sent up a  
         committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Van de Putte  
         to explain the difference between the committee substitute and  
         the bill as filed.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the  
         bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the  
         public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so  
         ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 436 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Gallegos, Jr., to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and

         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 438 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Gallegos, Jr., to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and

         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out SB 439 and recognized the author, Senator  
         Gallegos, Jr., to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and

         chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without  
         objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair announced that all bills be left pending due to a lack  
         of a quorum. 
          
         There being no further business, at 5:27 p.m. Senator Gallegos,  
         Jr. moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call  
         of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
