Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m.  The following business was transacted.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. made opening remarks and announced that the purpose of the hearing was to receive invited and public testimony on the four interim committee charges that were issued to the Senate Committee on International Relations and Trade by Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. 

 

The Chair laid out all four interim committee charges.  Witnesses providing invited testimony are shown on the attached list.

 

At 12:08 p.m., Senator Lucio, Jr. announced that the Committee would stand at ease.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. called the Senate Committee on International Relations and Trade back to order at 12:37 p.m.

 

Witness providing invited testimony on all four interim committee charges continued.

 

At 4 p.m., Senator Lucio, Jr. announced that the Committee would stand at ease.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. called the Senate Committee on International Relations and Trade back to order at 4:02 p.m.

 

Witnesses providing invited and public testimony on all four interim committee charges continued and are shown on the attached list.

 

The Chair moved that invited and public testimony be closed.  Without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 4:54 p.m. Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
