         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on  
         Administration was held on Thursday, May 5, 2005, in the E1.714.

         The chair called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m.  There being  
         a quorum present, the following business was transacted:   
          
         At 4:01 p.m. Senator Hinojosa assumed the chair.   
          
         The chair laid out HCR 71 and recognized Senator Harris, in the  
         absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  Senator  
         Harris moved that HCR 71 be reported favorably to the Senate  
         with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The  
         motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present  
         not voting, and 2 absent.  Senator Van de Putte moved that the  
         bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested  
         Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         The chair laid out HB 1011 and recognized Senator Harris, in the  
         absence of the Senate sponsor, to explain the bill.  Judge Jim  
         Lovett, representing Cemetery Advisory Committee, TAC,  
         registered in favor of the bill but did not testify.  Senator  
         Wentworth moved that HB 1011 be reported favorably to the Senate  
         with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The  
         motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present  
         not voting, and 2 absent.  Senator Van de Putte moved that the  
         bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested  
         Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.   
          
         At 4:09 p.m. Senator Harris resumed the chair.   
          
         The chair laid out the Local and Uncontested Calendar  
         Recommended list for Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at 8:00 a.m.  The  
  
         chair moved that HB 1165 by Armbrister be added to the  
         Recommended list;  without objection, it was so ordered.  The  
         chair moved that all the bills on the Local and Uncontested  
         Calendar Recommended list be certified with the exception of SB  
         952, SB 978, SB 1038, SB 1450, SB 1739, SB 1821 & SB 1846.  The  
         motion carried  with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present  
         not voting, and 2 absent. 
          
         There being no further business, at 4:12 p.m. Senator Harris  
         moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of  
         the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
