         Pursuant to a notice posted on August 15, 2006, the House  
         Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Hilderbran, at 1:15 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Hilderbran; Kuempel; Howard, Donna;  
                    Phillips (4). 
          
         Absent:    Representatives Dukes; Dunnam; Gallego (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on:  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         1) Fishing tournaments in Texas coastal waters. 
          
         (Representative Gallego now present.) 
          
         2) Consider how the Texas State Library and Archives Commission  
         could better support and   
              enhance public school libraries. 
          
         3) Examine the penalties and enforcement relating to the  
         desecration of archeological sites and     
              cemeteries. 
          
         At 3:30 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
