The House Committee on General Investigating & Ethics

         Pursuant to a notice posted and revised on February 24, 2005,  
         the House Committee on General Investigating & Ethics met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Bailey, at 8:12 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Bailey; Flynn; Keel (3). 
          
         Absent:    Representatives Paxton; Dutton (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative Paxton now present.) 
          
         Chairman Bailey called on Jason Cooke, former employee of the  
         Texas Health and Human Services Commission to address the  
         Committee. Mr. Cooke was questioned concerning his prior and  
         current employment. 
          
         (Representative Dutton now present.) 
          
         Chair then called on Wayne Meissner to introduce himself and to  
         advise the Committee whom he represented. Mr. Meissner then  
         presented the Committee a document of the CHIP Program Staffing  
         Chronology. 
          
         Chair then called on Jeannene Fox, Texas Alcoholic Beverage  
         Commission to explain the licensing procedure for obtaining a  
         liquor license in Texas. 
          
         At 9:02 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
