         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18,  
         2005, the House Committee on County Affairs met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Allen, Ray, at 5:44 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Allen, Ray; Smith, Wayne; Casteel;  
                    Coleman; Farabee; Laney; Naishtat; Olivo (8). 
          
         Absent:    Representative Otto (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 1510 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1510 as pending business.  
          
         Representative Allen, Ray offered an amendment to the measure.  
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Smith, Wayne moved that SB 1510, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed. The motion failed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:           Representatives Allen, Ray; Smith, Wayne;  
                         Casteel; Farabee (4). 
          
         Nays:           Representatives Coleman; Laney; Naishtat; Olivo  
                         (4). 
          
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0). 
          
         Absent:         Representative Otto  (1). 
          
         SJR 14 
          
         The chair laid out SJR 14 as pending business.  
          
         Representative Casteel moved that SJR 14, without amendments, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the  
         following record vote:  
          
         Ayes:           Representatives Allen, Ray; Smith, Wayne;  
 
                                         Casteel; Coleman; Farabee; Laney (6). 
           
         Nays:           None (0). 
          
         Present, Not Voting:     None  (0).

         At 5:48 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
