         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 11, 2005, the House  
         Committee on Civil Practices met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Nixon, at 2:11 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:   Representatives Nixon; Rose; King, Phil; Raymond;  
                    Strama; Talton; Woolley (7). 
          
         Absent:    Representatives Madden; Martinez Fischer (2). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out HB 8. 
          
         Representative Nixon offered a complete committee substitute.  
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         The chair recognized Representative Nixon to explain the  
         measure.

         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         (Representative Nixon in chair.) 
          
         Representative Rose moved to reconsider the vote by which CSHB 8  
         was adopted. The motion to reconsider prevailed without  
         objection. 
          
         The committee substitute was withdrawn without objection. 
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
          
         At 1:27 a.m., on the motion of Representative Raymond and  
         without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call  
         of the chair.
